Educating towards intercultural dialogue through traditional and ethnic music and dance

2008, the European year of intercultural dialogue is a joint European initiative, of member states and of civil European society, with the aim of favouring reciprocal understanding and living together. The Town Council of Senigallia has promoted intercultural initiatives at European level, for many years, and treasures this occasion offered by the European project A.C.I.D.E to discuss together the basis for building an intercultural society.

The A.C.I.D.E project which includes more than 30 intercultural traditional and ethnic dance and music workshops between Italy, Bulgaria, Germany and Greece, has demonstrated how music and dance can be used as educational tools for intercultural dialogue. Walking around Senigallia during the three days of the music festival, participating in the various workshops on ethnic music and dance organised on the beach and watching the evening shows at the Rotonda by the sea, organised with our European partners, we can learn how to overcome together the challenges of cultural diversity.
